10 Anime Characters Who Believe Violence Is Always The Answer

Most anime fans know the trope: the brash protagonist is always held back by his calm and peaceful friend, who tells him to be patient even in the craziest situations. The dynamic often makes for plenty of laughs, plenty of adventure, and some heartwarming moments, but not every violent character wants a sidekick to keep their cool.

Some anime characters just want to let loose, charge with instinct and adrenaline, and solve all the problems with their fists. Words don’t mean much to someone who has managed to find a solution to almost every problem with his best weapon: violence.

10 Karma Akabane is a skilled fighter (Assassination Classroom)

Karma was the most naturally skilled fighter of his class in assassination classroom and also the most enthusiastic at first to take up arms against Korosensei and kill him. He was suspended for violent behavior when Korosensei first arrived and wasted no time in being the first student to successfully hurt his teacher.

Due to her comedic personality, Karma never becomes a villain due to her violent behavior, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t there. His solutions to problems often involve subjecting the enemy to blows and he is always slightly disappointed when Nagisa suggests otherwise.

9 Shin’s job is violence (Dorohedoro)

As one of the cleaners from En en DorohedoroShin needs to have a violent reputation, and it’s certainly something he’s cured well over the years. While Shin is a patient and level-headed person, he delights in the brutality of his work and is well aware that he will get to the end of trouble faster if he uses his magic.

Shin stands out among other violent characters because he is willing to try other means first, but he knows that it tends to lead to the same result: exerting his force on another person to get the information he needs.


8 Yuno Gasai will do anything for Yukiteru (Future Diary)

One of the most iconic yanderes in modern anime, Yuno is obsessed with future diary protagonist Yukiteru Amano and will do absolutely everything in her power to keep him safe, even if it means killing an alternate version of herself to take his place.

Yuno’s penchant for violence throws the pair into a great deal of trouble multiple times, especially since the violence is often preceded by intense jealousy on Yuno’s part. She is unpredictable, aggressive, and possessive, and she doesn’t hesitate to protect Yukiteru in her special way.


7 Hibana Daida wants her enemies to suffer (Deadman Wonderland)


While she may seem as cute as a button, Hibana was an Undertaker in the dead man wonderland universe, a member of a special force made up of the worst criminals who survived a unique rehabilitation program.

Hibana is not only violent, she is egregiously immoral. After enduring years of trauma and abuse at the hands of her mother, she murdered her fellow kindergarteners who bullied her, thus ending up in Deadman Wonderland. Despite her size and age, she is known as one of the most sadistic members of the Undertakers, and she particularly enjoys torturing her victims before killing them.


6 Eren Jaeger is a twisted version of himself (Attack On Titan)


Eren’s emotional journey in attack on titan from a short melt boy who watched his mother die to a villainous leader who is willing to kill thousands for his brand of revenge is hard to beat. Viewers who have been with Eren since the beginning know that he always led with his hands, but his former approach to violence has become much darker over time.

Seeking justice for what happened to him, his family and friends on the island of Paradis, Eren has been directly and indirectly responsible for countless Marleyan and Eldian deaths, innocent or not.


5 Katsuki Bakugo has an explosive personality (My Hero Academia)

Impulsive in every way, Bakugo is currently one of the most well-known violent characters in the anime industry. He acts as a foil for from my hero academia protagonist Izuku Midoriya, who is quiet, gentle, and typically calm.

When Death Note begins, Light is a model student who sets an example for his classmates. However, an unexpected acquisition of the Death Note sends Light down a completely twisted path of self-gratification and selfish pursuit of what he believes to be justice.

Light uses the Death Note to kill a variety of people he deems socially unacceptable. His spree doesn’t end there: as the series continues, Light finds himself murdering innocent people to keep his identity a secret. Even when he confronts him at the end, he stands by his views and says that his violent approach was the only way forward for society.




3 Guts has been in survival mode all his life (Berserk)

Known as the black swordsman and the iconic protagonist of the legendary series. crazed, Guts is known by fans and non-fans alike as one of the most brutal and violent characters in anime. Not only is he a fighter whose prowess is talked about across the country, but he certainly proves himself to be that and much more throughout the series.

Although Guts has positive qualities, he is a man who had to kill to survive, even as an incredibly small child. The losses Guts takes always seem to push back the mental demons he tries to fight; he is not surprised that he has little patience for any discussion that does not involve his sword.

Tokyo Ghoume Jason is the ghoul who originally traumatized Kaneki with the centipede, pushing him to transform into the jaded half-ghoul that viewers see on screen. Jason has no qualms about using violent torture to get what he wants from his enemies.

Jason not only tortures others for information, he also tortures them for pleasure and finds genuine enjoyment in watching their suffering. With Jason using techniques that will prolong the experience, it’s a miracle that Kaneki survived his time at the elite ghoul’s hands.


1 Sanemi Shinazugawa won’t ask any questions first (Demon Slayer)

Even though Murderer of demons viewers haven’t seen much of Wind Hashira yet, it’s already been more than enough to establish that Shinazugawa is a violent character. While her hatred of him for demons is understandable, it’s hard to sympathize with the cruel way he treats Nezuko.

Shinazugawa’s immediate reaction is to fight first and think later. If it wasn’t for the presence of the other Hashira and her leader, he would have done much more than just harm Nezuko to try and provoke a reaction from her.
