the star of jujutsu kaisen Volume 0 It’s not Yuji Itadori, Nobara Kugisaki, or Satoru Gojo. This anime film directs its plot around a new hero named Yuta Okkotsu. Okkotsu is a powerful jujutsu sorcerer with a proven lineage and incredible cursed technique, but where Yuta really shines is that there is no negative cursed energy to be found.
Yuta Okkotsu won the hearts of fans and critics alike due to the intangible parts of his personality that cannot be explained through the complicated rules of cursed energy and cursed techniques. His kindness, authenticity and ability to add positive energy to any situation elevate him to the highest level of jujutsu kaisen characters.
10 Yuta’s kindness is free
Like most iconic anime protagonists, Yuta Okkotsu is an extremely patient and kind character. Throughout the course of jujutsu Kaisen Volume 0, Yuta wins the hearts of his classmates and fans with his kind heart and genuine personality.
Before Okkotsu knows what cursed energy is, he shows kindness to a group of thugs who wish him nothing but harm. This act of kindness may have failed at this point, but the fact that Okkotsu had it in his heart to stop the thugs before Rika attacked is as admirable as it is impressive.
9 Yuta chooses loyalty over strength.
Some wait to express their loyalty until they have the strength to stand up for the people they care about. Sasuke Uchiha is the perfect example of a disloyal friend who couldn’t support his friends until he had power.
Yuta is not the type of character who chooses strength over loyalty. When Suguru Geto approached him, Yuta defended Maki instead of joining the powerful sorcerer. The freshman is so loyal that he dragged Rika from the dead to fulfill her promised engagement.
8 Yuta can generate positive energy without a reverse curse technique.
The final battle that fans see in the Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 0 The film is set between Yuta Okkotsu and Suguru Geto. In this battle, fans get their first clue to Yuta’s cursed technique, but the most impressive feat Okkotsu accomplished while facing Geto was keeping his wounded allies alive.
By using reverse cursed energy, Yuta managed to heal his allies enough to stabilize them. While most jujutsu casters can only apply reverse cursed energy to themselves by multiplying the effects of the cursed energy, the manga explains that Yuta can generate raw positive energy. This is an ability unheard of before Yuta.
7 Yuta can draw on Rika’s cursed energy reserves.
The manga gives fans a much deeper look at Yuta Okkotsu’s character than the anime. When Yuta returns for the Itadori Extermination Arc and later during the Sendai Colony Arc, fans get a chance to see his cursed energy and his cursed technique in action.
During the Itadori Extermination arc, Yuta explains that his cursed energy levels are higher than Satoru Gojo’s. If this wasn’t impressive enough, Yuta calls out to Rika during the Sendai Colony arc to replenish the cursed energy drained from him in the heat of battle. With Rika by his side, Okkotsu is a nearly endless pool of cursed energy.
6 Yuta’s cursed energy is strong enough to create special grade cursed spirits.
Creating cursed spirits is not an ability unique to Yuta Okkotsu or any other jujutsu sorcerer. Every human being in the world jujutsu kaisen contributes to the reservoir of cursed energy that builds up in cursed spirits.
A skilled sorcerer will learn to control his cursed energy and prevent it from seeping into the world around him. Before Yuta learned this ability, his cursed energy was unleashed on the world and he created a special grade cursed spirit known to fans as Rika.
5 After studying with Maki, Yuta’s swordsmanship is well above average.
Thanks to his time training alongside Maki Zenin at Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yuta learned to master the katana. The Sendai Colony arc shows Yuta bringing out a new weapon in combat, but Okkotsu has made it clear that his weapon of choice is a katana fortified with cursed energy.
The young man’s swordsmanship combines with his skills in martial arts and cursed energy production to make him an incredibly difficult opponent to handle even before he pulls out his mastered cursed technique.
4 Yuta’s body and katana are reinforced with cursed energy.
One skill that every jujutsu caster must master before going out on the field is the cursed energy booster. By imbuing his body and sword with an overwhelming amount of cursed energy, Yuta can match Yuji Itadori’s supernatural strength and speed.
The Itadori Extermination arc shows Yuta facing off against Yuji in a melee battle that many would assume favors Yuji. Even Okkotsu admits that he is on the weaker side in terms of physical strength. Fortunately, he is a master at reinforcing his body with cursed energy and has no problem overpowering Yuji.
3 Yuta unravels a special grade curse with his love
Before Yuta masters the cursed energy, he is linked to the world of jujutsu by the special grade cursed spirit Rika Orimoto. When Gojo explains the nature of Yuta’s curse, he compares it to a series of tight knots. In short, exorcising a special grade curse is not an easy thing to do.
This is the kind of curse that takes time to unravel layer by layer until the cursed energy can be released from its sentient layer. At the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 0Yuta managed to unravel Rika’s curse while still maintaining a link between himself and the Cursed Spirit that would allow him to call upon her in future battles.
two Yuta is able to soften the hearts of everyone around him.
When Yuta is introduced to his new classmates at Tokyo Jujutsu High, he has a hard time making a good first impression. While Toge and Panda are able to overlook the fact that Yuta is cursed, Maki continues to despise Okkotsu until he proves capable of fighting alongside her.
By the end of the movie, Maki softens up to Yuta thanks to his innocence, honesty, and genuine kindness. No other character in the world of jujutsu kaisen has managed to soften up Maki like Yuta.
1 Yuta is a master of hand-to-hand combat.
When Yuta returns for the Sendai Colony arc, his cursed technique is finally revealed. First, Akutami narratively explained that Yuta’s cursed technique is tied to Rika. After the author’s explanation, Uro realizes that Yuta’s cursed technique is the ability to copy other cursed techniques.
If a large amount of cursed energy, the power of a dedicated special-grade cursed spirit, and swordsmanship weren’t enough to make Yuta overpowered, a copy-based cursed technique will surely do the trick. To top it off, Yuta puts on a melee display in Sendai that is enough to put two Special Grade Sorcerers on their heels.
