Catwoman & Black Cat Cosplay Unites DC’s and Marvel’s Greatest Thieves

In a new cosplay, DC’s Catwoman and Marvel’s Black Cat team up, bringing together the greatest thieves from their respective universes.

In both the Marvel Comics and DC Comics universes, two anti-heroes with cat-related characters, Black cat and Catwoman, are among the biggest thieves. In a new cosplay from @meshellwaffleo and @cosplaycounselor, the feline heroines come to life in two of their most iconic looks. The image features both characters after the heist as they got some jewelry and some money, showing a crossover that would be a lot of fun to see in the comics.

Catwoman and Black Cat share many similarities, but they debuted decades apart in the comics. Selina Kyle, created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, first debuted in the 1940s. bat Man #1, where she has gone from an adversary of the Dark Knight to his one true love. Meanwhile, Felicia Hardy’s Black Cat, created by Marv Wolfman and Keith Pollard, made her debut on The Amazing Spider-Man #194 from 1979. Despite the fact that both characters have names related to cats, are love interests of great heroes, and are among the greatest thieves in their respective DC Comics and Marvel Comics histories, the similarities of Catwoman and Black Cat do not appear to be intentional. Both have carved out significant roles for themselves and are fan-favorite characters, as evidenced by the many cosplays that have brought them to life.

On her Instagram account, @meshellwaffleo shared her cosplay version of Black Cat, while fellow cosplayer @cosplaycounselor showed off her Catwoman outfit. Black Cat’s look brings to life one of the antihero’s most classic looks as she wears her own leather outfit, with white fur around her neck, a black eye mask, and thigh-high white boots. The Marvel Comics heroine poses as she holds up a pearl necklace that she took from her latest heist. Meanwhile, @cosplaycounselor brings the DC Comics thief to life with a look ripped straight from Batman: The Animated Series. Catwoman’s gray catsuit, with her yellow belt, black boots and long gloves, and her iconic mask, looks fantastic.

The Black Cat and Catwoman cosplays have readers hoping that one day Marvel and DC Comics decide to do another crossover that features the two anti-heroes meeting and discussing their similarities. Given their personalities, it seems likely that they’re not just extreme competitors and possibly good friends. Surely, at the very least, they would annoy each other for being a thief.

Who knows? Maybe one day the thieves will join. Until another unlikely Marvel/DC Comics crossover occurs, however, cosplays, like the excellent one above, are the best readers will ever see. Black cat and Catwoman interacting
