Jujutsu Kaisen’s absurd April Fools’ Day prank becomes a reality as the series kicks off an adorable new commercial crossover with Pui Pui Molcar.

What started as an April Fool’s joke has now turned into a legitimate collaboration. The official Twitter account for Jujutsu Kaisen announced that the series will crossover with the popular stop-motion animated series. Pui Pui Molcar and revealed new art, featuring the cast of Gege Akutami’s dark fantasy shonen series paired with their own guinea pigs/hybrid cars. The artwork will appear on special merchandise, to be released at a later date. The official website of the collaboration also shows more announcements related to the crossover.
April 1, jujutsu kaisen tweeted an image of Masamichi Yaga, which was edited to make it look like he was holding Potato, the main character of Pui Pui Molcar. Yaga is the headmaster of Tokyo Jujutsu High School and possesses the ability to bring dolls to life with his Cursed special ability. Despite his intimidating appearance and demeanor, he often shows a preference for cute things, such as stuffed animals, which is probably why he was chosen to host the series. Molcar collaboration.
Pui Pui Molcar premiered in Japan in early 2021 and is distributed internationally by Netflix. The series takes place in a world where humans drive intelligent vehicles that resemble guinea pigs but have car-like qualities such as wheels and doors. While intended for the younger demographic, the series was a hit with fans of all ages, with praise towards its adorably designed characters and down-to-earth humor. The 12-episode series was followed by the release of a movie, titled Tobidase! Nase! Pui Pui Molcarwhich was released in Japan last July.

Gege Akutami’s gritty work on the battle between sorcerers and cursed spirits was the best-selling manga of 2021, narrowly beating Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba. The first film in the series, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, opened in Japan last December, where it quickly became the highest-grossing film of 2021 in the region. The film opened in North America last March, where it earned an additional $30 million. The film has now grossed over $180 million dollars worldwide, making it one of the top ten highest-grossing anime films ever made. A second season of the anime series is scheduled to premiere in 2023.
