Arceus Cosplay captures a cold winter adventure

A talented fan says his feet almost froze while taking photos of a beautiful Pokémon Legends winter cosplay: Akari, the protagonist of Arceus.

An impressive cosplay transports one of the protagonists of Pokémon Legends: Arceus to a winter wonderland.

Reddit user @ilarypichu uploaded a photo of Akari’s cosplay, featuring the Pokémon Legends: Arceus character crouched in the snow, surrounded by trees and shadows. While his face is quite serene in the shot, according to the cosplayer, they froze throughout the shoot because they were wearing slippers that were reminiscent of the character’s in-game footwear instead of actual winter shoes.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released on January 28, 2022, and according to Nintendo, it sold 6.5 million copies worldwide in one week, outperforming other fan favorites. Pokemon titles like bright diamond Y shiny pearl. The game garnered critical acclaim upon release, with GameRadar’s Sam Loveridge stating that it “really revolutionized gameplay.” [Pokémon] series for a more modern audience”.

There have been developments in the larger Pokemon franchise too. In particular, two new games: scarlet pokemon Y Violet — will be released sometime in late 2022. The games will have a setting inspired by Spain and will introduce players to the ninth generation of Pokémon. The new starters, Fucecoco, Sprigatito and Quaxly, were featured heavily in all of the early promotional material and have already become the focus of many fan theories, including one using the classic Spanish novel, Don Quijote of La Mancha, to make predictions about their final forms.

Additionally, the Pokémon Company is partnering with the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo to create a special exhibit that explores the fictional natural history of the world of Pokemon. The exhibit, which will appear in three temporary locations in Japan throughout 2022, will feature fossil and skeletal versions of many of the franchise’s iconic monsters and creatures, including life-size statues of Omanyte and Aerodactyl.

Developed by Game Freak, directed by Kazumasa Iwao and published by Nintendo, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available to play exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
