Fire Force and Soul Eater, same worlds?
When started, it looked more like Ohkubo’s work, with crazy powers, weird character quirks, and lots of fanservice. But the biggest plot twist came when the moon first appeared, and fans actually started to believe that the two series were somehow connected.
The moon is iconic in Soul Eater with his haunting smile, and when he first appeared in fire Force, fans were shocked to discover such a blatant reference to the author’s previous series. So with this in mind, the theory that Fire Force was a prequel or a sequel to Soul Eater it began to become more than a theory.
At the end of the series, the truth was revealed. It’s a prequel to Soul Eater, and here’s why.
holy sun and souls
A Twitter user, Reqium4Bong, explains it clearly. When Shinra first came out of the First Pillar, she learned that the Pillars of that world were responsible for most of the problems in the series.
Shinra knew that the only way to resolve the conflict was not to change society as the characters knew it. Instead, he would have to change the world itself.
at the end of fire Force, the protagonist of the series does something completely unexpected. He creates the world of Soul Eater contain fire force biggest threat so far, the Holy Sun Religion.
In the series, the Holy Sun Religion was a life-centered cult, and while this sounds good on paper. The truth of the matter was that he served the evangelist Haumea, who was channeling God in a jealous crusade.
To defeat her, Shinra had to turn the world’s values upside down.
For a world focused on life, instead, it needed to focus on Death. With that came the creation of Death, or the Shinigami of Soul Eater. To extract from Shinra’s own words:
“When I rebuilt the world, I diminished the value of life.”
In fire force, Combustion occurs when a person’s soul overlaps when their Adolla counterpart crosses over. Shinra decided that instead of people spontaneously exploding, he would remake the world to be more “absurd”.
So now, instead of spontaneous combustion, events like Zombies or Soul Resonance will happen. Also, the evangelist would be sealed under the world created by Shinra.
One of the final scenes of the manga is a city familiar to many. Soul Eater fans, which is an overview of DWMA.
As if that wasn’t proof enough, one of the final shots in the series is Maka and Soul, as children, walking through the world that Shinra made. The infamous sword, Excalibur, also makes an appearance.
So when the series comes to an end, the reader can see how the crazy world of Soul Eater made.
