jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179: Three Way Domain Expansions
jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179 begins with its title page, showing the three combatants activating their expansions. The theme is titled Sendai Colony, Part 6keeping the theme of the sacrificial game chapter names so far.
jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179 begins with a short explanation from the narrator about the overlapping domains. They specify that within overlapping domains, “unmissable attacks cancel each other out” and that Ishigori and Uro’s goals are to keep Rika out of the barrier.
This is to avoid giving Okkoutsu the “initiative”, which probably means some advantage in the fight.
The two then comment on how Rika may eventually try to butt in, which means the two of them need to keep this fight short and sweet. The narrator goes on to say that Ishigori had just pushed her 20 meters from the expansion zone, meaning that she would never reach the barrier before the construction.
However, it is revealed that the last remains of Rika Orimoto, the human, who dwelled within Rika, the Cursed Spirit, could not accept that. In the words of the narrator, this results in her âgears [being] It went up a level.” A third eye on the Cursed Spirit’s forehead opens when this happens.
However, at that exact moment, Kurorushi returns and exclaims that he “likes the taste of iron”, meaning that he enjoys bloodshed. The narrator calls it a “modern black demon”, which slithered into the barrier while reinforced cockroaches distracted Rika outside.
Here it is revealed that Kurorushi reproduced by parthenogenesis before going dormant, a reproduction from an egg cell without fertilization. In other words, it is essentially a form of asexual reproduction.
The narrator continues, saying that after Kurorushi’s exorcism, the “Cursed energy of fear throughout Japan was once again poured into the boy.”
Here it is revealed that Kurorushi, the player, had died, but Kurorushi, the cursed spirit, has lived. The narrator returns to the three-way domain expansion fight, saying that the clash of three domains is more complex than two.
Apparently, due to the different internal and external conditions of the barriers, as well as Kurorushi’s intrusion, all three barriers break.
jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179: Unwelcome Intruders
The intrusion of the former player’s cursed spirit distracts Uro, leading Yuta to take advantage and launch a sneak attack kick. The narrator explains that using Domain Expansion causes one’s Cursed Technique to burn out, making it difficult to use. This is said when Uro unsuccessfully tries to use his to fend off Kurorushi.
Since the attempt was unsuccessful, Kurorushi uses the festering life sword to sever Uro’s left arm, causing cockroaches to sprout from the wound. Rika grabs the severed arm and eats it, likely showing fans how Yuta is able to mimic the Cursed Techniques of others.
Uro blames Okkotsu for the loss of his arm here, calling him Fujiwara once again. Ishigori, meanwhile, tells her that it’s enough and that he didn’t invite “you guys to this table”, referring to her and Kurorushi. The narrator explains that his Cursed Technique is Cursed Energy Discharge, as he launches a Granite Blast at the two.
The narrator emphasizes that Ishigori is the only sorcerer who can unleash the same amount of power whether or not he has activated his Cursed Technique. jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179 then shows Uro completely knocked out, while Kurorushi is conscious but missing several limbs.
jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179: Final Pages
Yuta appears to kill Kurorushi, the cursed spirit, the same way he killed Kurorushi, the player here, by grabbing his head and shooting cursed energy at it. Followed by Rika, he approaches Ishigori with an expression on his face indicating that he is ready for battle.
Ishigori inwardly welcomes her to his table before saying her name out loud and pointing a finger at her.
A panel is seen with various pastry desserts lined up on a table, likely teasing an aspect of Ishigori’s character, which will later be revealed. The final panels of jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179 shows the two in battle-ready stances, as the narrator emphasizes that Okkoutsu’s cursed technique has yet to replenish.
On the last page of the issue, Ishigori and Rika are seen, with another panel of desserts between them. Serving as the last line of the issue, Yuta tells Rika, “let’s go”, as the chapter ends. There is no mention of a break next week.
jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179: In Summary
jujutsu kaisen Chapter 179 is incredibly detailed, with most of the dialogue in the problem coming from the narrator. However, the chapter is still attractive and impressive, especially thanks to the return of Kurorushi in the form of the Cursed Spirit.
The Culling Game arc has been fantastic so far, and this issue continues that trend. The now one-on-one fight between Okkotsu and Ishigori looks incredibly promising, especially with Rika’s recent power-up now in play.
