Spring is on its way, and with the start of April comes a variety of new animated movies and TV shows for audiences of all ages to enjoy. Between the second and third season releases, animated films opening in theaters, and original anime streaming on Netflix, this spring promises to be a favorable time for animated content. Here are six of the most anticipated animated movies and shows set to be released in April 2022.
Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood is an animated revisionist short story
Spinning a revisionist tale of the moon landing, Apollo 10 1/2 follows Stan, a fourth grader, as he grows up in the ’60s and has some imaginary adventures along the way. Narrated by Jack Black, Apollo 10 1/2 explores everything from the Apollo 11 space mission, the Vietnam War, and family dynamics in that time period. An autobiographical fantasy story, director Richard Linklater weaves together inner desires and outer circumstances in a moving tribute to childhood dreams of going to space and other imaginative fantasies. Using digital rotoscoping over live performances, this style of animation succeeds in capturing the visual nuances and subtle gestures of what it was like for those who grew up in one of the most formative periods of American history.

Close Enough Season 3 explores an existential crisis
Made by the creators behind the infamous regular show, Close enough it largely relates to people reaching the cusp of adulthood and trying to do so without feeling old. Centered on a family of three and their two divorced best friends who share an apartment, Close enough he’s not afraid to take a humorous yet surprisingly candid look at the struggles of middle age. A fan favorite on HBO Max, Close enough‘s Season 3 promises to bring the same levels of mayhem and relatability as its predecessors.

Tiger & Bunny will release new episodes for the first time in 11 years
Originally premiering in 2011, this anime series is finally going to release a second season after a waiting period of 11 years. The year is 1978, and superpowered individuals called NEXT offer their services as heroes for hire. Treated more like reality TV stars than heroes, NEXT follows their good deeds on network television, with the “season finale” promising one lucky hero the title “King of Heroes.”
All balance is lost when two heroes with the same power team up to work together. Unfortunately, they have completely different ideas of what it means to be a hero, with Kotetsu Kaburagi as a hardened veteran and Barnaby Brooks, Jr. as the wide-eyed newcomer. With engaging visuals and an original story, tiger and bunnyNo doubt ‘s season 2 will be worth the wait.

Green Eggs and Ham: Second helping brings Dr. Seuss characters to life

The Bad Guys follows the big bad wolf turned good
In an age dominated by many movies and shows released exclusively on streaming services, it’s about time movie lovers support the industry by going to see movies that are released in theaters. Fortunately, that opportunity will come sooner rather than later for Dreamworks. the bad boys.
When one thinks of “bad” animals, creatures like sharks, snakes, and spiders are probably some of the first to come to mind. Unfortunately, Mr. Snake, Ms. Tarantula, Mr. Shark and their crew have taken public opinion seriously, have carried out numerous heists and have become a group that wears the badge of “Bad Guys” with pride. That is until their fearless leader, Mr. Wolf, decides that they must become model citizens to avoid prison time. Featuring a well-known voice cast, innovative animation, and a creative spin on Big Bad Wolf, the bad boys seems to be a feel-good movie that people of all ages can enjoy.
The Bad Guys opens in theaters on April 22.
Bubble brings parkour to the world of anime
Made by the same minds behind attack on titan and Death Note, this Netflix original anime film seeks to set a high bar for future streaming-exclusive anime. Following the teenagers Hibiki and Uta, Bubble Explore a post-apocalyptic Tokyo populated solely by groups of parkour enthusiasts who take advantage of the mystical bubbles floating around that seem to shut down the effects of gravity. Romance, adventure, and unexplained powers are anime staples, but what seems to establish Bubble apart is its impressive visual design. From the trailer alone, it’s clear that the production team has gone above and beyond in creating an immersive world that has an optimistic tone for the future of modern anime, and the plot seems to adhere to a similar standard.
Bubble premieres on Netflix on April 28.
