Tegas partners with Yayasan Peneraju to empower tech talents in Sarawak

The first cohort of the Tegas Tech immersion program will run from February to August 2023.

KUCHING (January 26): Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) through its Digital Village and Digital Innovation Center partners with Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (YPPB) for the Tegas 2023 Technology Immersion Program (TTIP) which will take place from March to August. year.

The program aims to empower unemployed people and recent graduates to jump-start their careers in the digital innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, in line with the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

“The Tegas Tech Immersion program was designed to provide local tech talent with an end-to-end experience, ranging from enhancing their existing skills, while expanding their mindset and experience through real-world projects, mentoring and training.

“This program provides a technical skills experience that more easily connects tech talent to new employment opportunities,” said Deputy Minister of Town Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh. .

TTIP was first introduced as a pilot program in 2022.

It secured the support of YPPB who became Tegas’ first strategic partner for the program in 2023, while YPPB is an agency that has been mandated to increase the quality, quantity and relevance of Bumiputera talent in a revenue economy. high through university education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), funding programs for professional, technological and specialized qualifications.

To date, YPPB has nurtured over 46,000 talents nationwide through its more than 370 funding programs and is meeting industry demand by providing quality manpower.

The first cohort will run from March to August this year in collaboration with Tegas ecosystem partners and program alumni (startups) namely Petronas Digital, Moredoor, ERM Planet, FutureLab, Kloena Digital, UAS Mapping, Borneo Digital, Timogah, Satok Bridge Digital and many more.

“I would like to thank our strategic partner, Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera and all Tegas ecosystem partners for their support of this first-of-its-kind residency program in Sarawak,” said the President of Tegas.

Meanwhile, Tegas CEO Udin Bujang said during this program, participants will have the chance to be in charge of projects such as user interface (UI) improvement and user experience (UX) of a website, the development of digital marketing strategies and campaigns as well as the design and development of new products.

He added that participants will also have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the startup they are working with by being in charge of the implementation of a project within the startup, which in turn becomes an added value for their professional growth as well as their portfolio.

“Positions available through Tegas Ecosystem Partners and Alumni include Junior Game Developer, Junior Web Developer, Junior Mobile Developer, Junior Backend Developer, Junior Digital Marketing, and Junior Business Development, among others.

“Benefits of the program include a monthly stipend of RM1,500 as well as access to Tegas Digital Village and Digital Innovation Hub in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri,” he said.

The program is open to Sarawak Bumiputera who are unemployed and new graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 and above.

Other criteria also require participants to be able to engage throughout the six months and be passionate about digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
