Nearly a year after the legendary mangaka’s untimely passing, the final volume of Kentaro Miura’s Berserk has officially been given a Western release date for later this fall.

Compiling the last seven chapters completed by the legendary mangaka before his untimely death last May “due to acute aortic dissection,” Berserk volume 41 will be released this November, in comic shops on the 19th and in bookstores on the 22nd. generals, courtesy of the manga. longtime English publisher, Dark Horse Comics.
“It is with great pride that Dark Horse will release the latest installment of Miura-sensei’s masterpiece, Berserk,” said Dark House founder and president Mike Richardson in conjunction with the volume’s announcement. “Her creativity of hers and her incredible storytelling are unmatched. And to be able to release her final work to her fans is an honor that cannot be underestimated.”
Picking up in the aftermath of Griffith and the Band of the Hawk’s triumph over the jötunn armies, their appearance as a result of the Great Roar of the Astral World caused by the killing of the Kushan Emperor augmented by the White Falcon’s man-made Beherit, the El Berserk’s final volume will begin with Chapter 358, “Dawn of an Empire,” in which the Falcon of Light discusses the political affairs of his newly erected capital city, Falconia.

From there, the collection will return to the adventures of Guts and his band of companions, currently consisting of Casca, Schiercke, Isidro, Farnese, Serpico, Isma, Azan, Roderick, Magnifico, Ivalera, and Puck, through the magical kingdom of the elves. Elfhelm.
The volume will finally conclude with chapter 364 of the series, the last one to be released before Miura’s death, and a rather fitting reveal about Moonlight Boy’s existence.
Sadly, however appropriate, this reveal may be the end of the story of Guts’ quest for revenge against Griffith.
At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation as to whether the series will resume publication, possibly under the direction of one of his assistants, or whether it will be honorably retired from the pages of Hakusensha’s Young Animal Comics magazine.

According to an interview with Miura conducted just before his death, the mangaka revealed that Berserk was not only roughly “60-80%” finished, but had also recently begun the process of wrapping up the story.
While it seems apparent that fans will never see Miura’s full vision for Berserk’s ending, hopefully details of what the author had planned may be made public at some point in the future.
