The anime adaptation of Yasuki Tanaka’s supernatural mystery series releases an intriguing new trailer ahead of its exclusive premiere on Disney+.

The trailer introduces the sleepy seaside town and mysterious death that form the basis of the new horror-thriller series. The new anime is based on a manga by Yasuki Tanaka, an artist who previously served as an assistant to my hero academia creator Kohei Horikoshi. Tanaka’s manga originally launched through Shōnen Jump +the digital spin-off of Shueisha’s hit Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and ran from 2017 to 2021.
Representation of daylight saving time tells the story of Shinpei Ajiro, a boy who was orphaned at a young age and later raised by two sisters, Mio and Ushio. Ajiro, now a young adult, returns to his hometown by the sea after learning that Ushio drowned during a tragic accident. As Ajiro mourns his death, he uncovers evidence that Ushio’s death was no accident and that something sinister is going on in the sleepy little town.
The new anime is being produced by OLM, the anime studio behind the Pokemon the various anime adaptations of the franchise and Netflix’s hit high school comedy series, Komi can’t communicate. The series stars Natsuki Hanae, the voice of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No YaibaThe central protagonist of Tanjiro Kamado, as Ajiro, Anna Nagase as Ushio, the older sister who raised him, and The detective is already dead‘s Saho Shirasu as Mio, the younger sister whom Ajiro must now protect from the dark forces that haunt the city.
The series is scheduled to premiere on Japanese television on April 14. Disney+ will stream the series exclusively internationally.
The psychological thriller will kick off Disney’s first foray into the anime streaming market. The media conglomerate is just one of a number of companies turning to the anime industry to round out its streaming library, joining Netflix, which in recent years has scored high-profile exclusives like the new season of the anime. jojo’s bizarre adventure anime and Sony, which in 2021 paid $1.1 billion to acquire Crunchyroll, one of the world’s most popular dedicated anime streaming services. Representation of daylight saving time was one of three anime series that Disney announced it would air, the other two being the long-awaited return of the cult classic Black Rock Shooter, and Tatami Time Machine Bluesa sequel to Science’s beloved SARU The Tatami Galaxy.
Tanaka’s original manga has been licensed for publication in English by Udon Entertainment. The first hardcover volume will be released in North America this coming May.
