With his back against the wall, Trunks receives energy from the other members of the Time Patrol, accidentally performing the Super Saiyan God ritual.
Even though Dragon Ball fans are probably more familiar with the future Swimsuit who went back in time to help Goku and the others during the events of the Android and Cell Sagas, another much more powerful version of Future Trunks exists. This Trunks is known as Xeno Trunks and is currently employed by the Time Patrol Agency as a guardian of history. Xeno Trunks is astronomically more powerful than most Future Trunks, and has even managed to cross over to the realm of the gods.
On Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Big Bang Mission Chapter 1, Goku and Vegeta meet a version of Trunks from an alternate dimension. Xeno Trunks experienced a similar timeline as Future Trunks until diverging after Cell’s death in the future. Xeno Trunks finds himself in the presence of the Kaioshin of Time, who proceeds to employ the Saiyan as an agent of justice to pay off his debts for messing with history so often.
While Xeno Trunks is powerful in his own right, he discovers very quickly that he doesn’t have the strength to go toe-to-toe with the villains trying to destroy history. In chapter 16 of Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm MissionTrunks is faced with the reality that he and the other Z-Warriors who became part of the Time Patrol are no match for the divine power of Mechikabura, the most powerful demon in history. With Trunks being the only one left unharmed, the rest of the warriors channeled their energy towards him. With the combined power of Pan, Gohan, Goten, Goku, and Vegeta, the Saiyans inadvertently complete a long-lost ritual, transforming Xeno Trunks into a Super Saiyan God.
The power of the Super Saiyan God is fully demonstrated when Trunks confronts Mechikabura with godlike power. Super Saiyan God’s sheer strength is able to resist Mechikabura’s dominance over time and space, even surviving a black hole that was unleashed at point-blank range. However, Mechikabura’s defeat is not where Trunks’ Super Saiyan God form stops climbing, as in big bang mission, Trunks is able to deflect a God of Destruction level attack from Beerus. Xeno Trunks’ Super Saiyan God form is clearly capable of reaching the same or greater heights as Goku and Vegeta in their respective transformations. Later in the Dragon Ball Heroes 9th Anniversary book, it was revealed that the writers were torn between giving Trunks Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan 4, but chose the former because they couldn’t decide what his hair color would look like as a Super Saiyan 4. This implies that either form would have been capable. of performing the same feats narratively and their multipliers might even be similar in nature.
Xeno Trunks’ achievement of this transformation was a milestone for Dragon Ball Heroes as he was the first manga-only Super Saiyan God within the Z-Warriors. Trunks being a fan favorite is nothing new in the game. Dragon Ball and the success of his new form has led many to believe that more manga-exclusive transformations are coming soon. With the rise in popularity of Dragon Ball Heroes, Super Saiyan Blue Xeno Swimsuit could be just around the corner.
