Arcane, the Netflix show inspired by Riot Games’ League of Legends, thrust fans into the turbulent world of former champions Jinx and Vi, but one cosplayer has brought the mighty pink haired girl to life with this stunning cosplay.
As Riot Games continues to go from strength to strength following the triumphant launch of Arcane, its League of Legends-inspired Netflix show, cosplayers around the world have been re-creating the show’s now-iconic champions en masse.
We’ve seen impressive interpretations of everyone from the main antagonist, Jinx, to a wacky recreation of fan-favorite inventor turned Shimmer-obsessed scientist, Viktor.
Next on the cosplay hit list is Powder’s tortured sister Vi, brought to life by Los Angeles cosplayer theelfinartist (Brie) in an outfit that will blow your mind (probably because Vi put it there).
Fearless to the end, Vi has etched herself into the League’s history books as a fan favorite.
League of Legends Arcane Vi cosplay is spectacular
They point out that they are not great League of Legends players, but they have learned a lot about the characters and lore of the game.
“I’m not a hardcore LoL player, but a lot of my friends are, so I was able to experience it through them and have always been inspired by the beautiful character designs and exciting story.” they said. “I’ve dressed up in League several times before, and when Arcane came out, I was absolutely obsessed with the story, the characters, and the beautiful art. I had to bring these great characters to life!”
Beginning her arcane cosplay journey as Jinx, Brie was also quick to bring Vi to life. “Vi is another one of my favorite characters and her character speaks volumes to me,” they told Dexerto. “I identify with both sisters a lot, but I also like strong-willed characters with muscles and tattoos, so I knew I had to put my own spin on Vi with some casual and trendy cosplays of her.”
However, Brie’s cosplay isn’t your conventional red leather jacket, as they wanted to put their own spin on the feisty fighter from Zaun. “Usually I do my cosplays from scratch (like I’m doing with Jinx), but with Vi, because I was putting a fashion spin on the concept, I just made the wig and then bought and styled her outfit from my closet, adjusting things. as necessary.”
However, it is the unconventional nature of this cosplay that makes it so unique, as we can imagine this fashionista version of Vi stalking the plague-ridden streets of Zaun in search of her beloved Dust. Steampunk-style tattoos snake up her arms, with a white sports bra that hugs her muscular form tightly. Her wispy magenta hair waves to her shoulders, and that iconic facial tattoo peeks out from under hooded eyes.
Speaking of that stunning wig, it was this that caused Brie the most trouble. “The wig was actually completely reconstructed from a different LoL cosplay wig that she had worn in the past!” they state, recalling that “the wig was very resistant to the dyeing process, which made the styling job a little more intense than I originally intended.”
For those (like us) who are obsessed with Brie’s fashionable twists on classic characters, fear not! More LoL cosplays are in the works. “I’ve already cosplayed Evelynn, Akali and I’m working on finishing my Jinx cosplay, but I have plans for more arcane characters and other Akali designs!”
Will we see Brie transform into Piltover’s top sheriff, Caitlyn? Or is Viktor more up her alley? Time will tell, but until then we can’t get enough of the Vi from him.
