the new season of shield hero picks up right where season 1 left off, and that means fans may need to catch up on who’s who and what’s what in this isekai series. Viewers may want to brush up not only on the exotic setting of this fantasy anime, but also on the main characters and the groups they belong to. Some are allies of Naofumi, some are her enemies, and some are somewhere in between.
Iwatani Naofumi’s Isekai Adventure Party
The story of shield hero It primarily follows the shield protagonist Iwatani Naofumi and his ever-growing adventuring party. Naofumi, as the Shield Hero, must use his creativity, wits, and most of all, his magical shields to survive in combat and grind XP between the Waves, and is known for his stern and pragmatic manner in the story. . Her first traveling companion is Raphtalia, a tanuki-like demihuman, whom he bought as a slave and made her his personal swordsman, and Naofumi takes care of her like an adopted daughter. Raphtalia is haunted by the devastating raid that took place in her hometown, Lurolona Village.
Naofumi soon gave birth to a Filolial, an intelligent bird-like being, named Filo and added her to his group as well. Filo can fight with her wind-based magic and her claws, but she is also known to pull Naofumi’s chariot like a beast of burden, a duty she enjoys. She can transform into a blonde human form and back at will, complete with enchanted clothing that doesn’t rip when she transforms into an oversized girl.
After that, Naofumi met and recruited the youngest princess of the Melromarc kingdom, Melty, who always knew that Naofumi was innocent and intended to side with her from the start, unlike her royal father and older sister. . Finally, at the end of Season 1, Naofumi met a member of Bow Hero’s group, a meek girl named Rishia, who might soon become a permanent member of Naofumi’s group.
The other three cardinal heroes: Motoyasu, Ren, and Itsuki
Naofumi is just one of four cardinal heroes to be summoned, with the other three carrying offensive weaponry to fight the waves. Most prominent among them is the obnoxious blond boy Motoyasu the Spear Hero, who was personally antagonistic to Naofumi in shield heroThe first season of and a close friend and ally of the princess formerly known as Malty. By the end of Season 1, he and Naofumi had become allies, but not personal friends.
Next up is Sword Hero, the dark-haired Ren, a composed boy who can perform devastating sword techniques both up close and from afar, just like a true JRPG hero. The four heroes are rounded out by Itsuki, a soft-spoken guy who can use a bow and arrow like a d&dstyle rangers to support your teammates from afar, including powerful magic attacks. She once had Rishia in her group, but kicked her out at the end of season 1 for being too weak, at least Itsuki saw her that way.
The Royal Family of Melromarc
The royal family of the kingdom of Melromarc is mainly composed of the king, the queen and their two daughters. King Aultclay XXXII wields a great deal of power when Naofumi and the others arrive on this isekai world, and he played a key role in a conspiracy to banish the Shield Hero and allow the Church of Three Heroes to reign supreme in the kingdom. He also personally greeted the four Cardinal Heroes and presented them with cash rewards for his work during the Waves. Meanwhile, his wife Mirellia holds most of the power in the realm, as Melromarc is a matrilineal realm, and she sympathizes deeply with both the Shield Hero and the demi-human population. She soon proved to be Naofumi’s number one ally in the royal court.
The two royal princesses differ greatly from each other. The youngest princess, Melty, is a cheerful and intelligent girl who sympathizes with the Shield Hero, as does her mother, and she cannot stand the corruption and intrigues that take place in the royal court of Melromarc. She can also use water magic and, like her mother, she sympathizes with demi-humans.
The eldest princess, born Malty, conspired with her father to banish the Shield Hero and conspire with the Church of Three Heroes, and also became a member of Motoyasu’s group as a user of fire magic. After the king and Malty were found guilty of their crimes in a court of law, they were stripped of their titles, authority, and even their names. King Aultclay was officially renamed Trash, and Malty was given an especially crude new personal name and adventurer moniker to match. They have been humiliated, but they are still a presence in the kingdom of Melromarc, and Naofumi must take care of them in the new adventures of season 2.
