One-Punch Man: Saitama reaches the peak of rage

The following contains spoilers for One-Punch Man Chapter 159, “Source of Anxiety”, by One, Yusuke Murata, John Werry and James Gaubatz, available in English on Viz Media.

Saitama is known for not being intimidated by any threat or danger. He maintains a poker face, even in the face of a possible Earth-destroying catastrophe, such as when he fought Boros, the alien invader, or the Monster King Orochi. However, that does not mean that he is an insensitive robot. There are some cases where he is actually angry, but only in Chapter 159 has he reached the peak of hate.

With the amount of power Saitama possesses, there is no longer anything that poses a threat to him. He simply decimates everything that stands in his way with a single blow, hence the manga’s title. He, however, is not without his weaknesses. He is often nervous about missing out on sales and is always questioning his budget, and the Monster Association’s large-scale attack finally brought out the worst in him.

Garo and Saitama in One-Punch Man

The first question Saitama asked the monstrous Garo was confirmation of his identity, which was provided by the Hero Hunter. He then went on a long tirade about being absolute evil, but Saitama was no longer interested in what the monster had to say. Because he considered Garo not to be a monster, despite the Hero Hunter’s admission, he was convinced that there was nothing left for him to do there, leaving Garo shocked and confused.

However, before he left, Saitama ranted a bit, remembering leaving his place to report the recurring noise. However, his house was destroyed and now he had to go get his belongings. Saitama expressed his frustration at the situation, claiming that he was so angry that he could destroy the world. Saitama’s outburst wasn’t just a bluff, because Garo felt immense pressure when the bald hero made the declaration.

Saitama very angry in One-Punch Man

Saitama getting angry is a rare occurrence, and this is the first time he has reached a world-destroying level of anger. Unsurprisingly, the cause of his fury is not something serious like losing a friend or witnessing great evil. Rather, it has something to do with his belongings. Saitama has always cared about things that ordinary people would consider trivial, such as sales in supermarkets and winning against King in a video game. However, it is interesting to see him express an emotion to that extent.

Saitama has always been shown to be a calm person who cannot feel any sense of danger, so seeing him in a fit of immense rage is somewhat rare. If there’s any moral lesson this teaches the audience, then it’s that no one should mess with Saitama’s belongings under any circumstances.
