RWBY: Ice Queendom anime releases its first trailer

Shaft anime studio unveils the first official trailer for RWBY: Ice Queendom, a 2D anime spinoff of Rooster Teeth’s RWBY coming later this year.

Shared with the official BANDAI NAMCO art channel on YouTube, the Japanese trailer for ice kingdom Recreates key moments from the first volume of Rooster Teeth’s anime-inspired action series, such as the formation of Team RWBY itself. The trailer also reveals ice kingdomThe ending theme for “Awake” by Saori Hayami, and confirms that the anime will arrive later this year. The Japanese version of the show stars the voices of Hayami as Ruby Rose, Yōko Hikasa as Weiss Schnee, Yu Shimamura as Blake Belladonna, and Ami Koshimizu as Yang Xiao Long.

‘RWBY: Ice Queendom’ presents a new RWBY story in beautiful 2D anime visuals. RWBY imagines a world filled with hideous monsters bent on death and destruction, and humanity’s only hope rests with the mighty Hunters and Huntresses. Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long are four of these slayers-in-training whose journeys will take them far beyond the grounds of their school, Beacon Academy. Although each may be powerful on their own, these four girls must overcome dark forces and work as a team if they truly hope to become Remnant’s next generation of protectors. ‘RWBY: Ice Queendom’ will set the world of RWBY before taking viewers on a new adventure that RWBY fans have never seen.

ice kingdom was recently announced online with an official key artwork. A Crunchyroll article stated that the anime stream would stream RWBYThe latest spin-off of both in Japanese and English, although that article was quickly removed. However, Rooster Teeth has now confirmed that as of this year, ice kingdom will simultaneously release subtitled and dubbed episodes for US audiences on both Crunchyroll and Rooster Teeth FIRST weekly. The dubbed version will look original RWBY stars Lindsay Jones, Kara Eberle, Arryn Zech and Barbara Dunkelman reprise their roles as Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang, respectively.


“It’s hard to put into words how honored and excited we are to see the show we envision in the world inspire a Japanese anime,” he said. RWBY executive producer Kerry Shawcross. “I’ve been an anime fan all my life, so to see RWBY in this new medium is surreal. I can’t wait for the fans to see this show, I think it will blow their minds.”

As for the crew behind ice kingdomRooster Teeth explained, “The core creative team is led by Gen Urobuchi (NITRO PLUS, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, fate/zero), Ubukata Trailer (mardock scramble, Tenchi: The Samurai Astronomer, Fafner in the azure), huke (black Rock Shooter, chitocerium, jugs; door), and Toshimasa Suzuki (Lagrange: The flower of Rin-ne, Fafner on Azure: Heaven and Earth), with additional collaboration from Kerry Shawcross, Eddy Rivas and Erin Winn of Rooster Teeth”.


Created by the late Monty Oum, the lead director of Rooster Teeth RWBY The series originally premiered in 2013 and currently has eight volumes (ie seasons) under its belt, with a ninth on the way. ice kingdom is the latest major on-screen spin-off of the show, continuing the humor-focused story RWBY chibi and the lore-centric RWBY: Fairy Tales. In the course of his journey, RWBY it has also spawned a number of multimedia spin-offs, including video games, Japanese manga, American comics, and YA novels.
