There’s no question who the superior fighter in Pokemon is, but Goh shines even more than Ash in a crucial aspect of being a trainer.
Goh has been quite a polarizing character since his introduction in pokemon trips. In pursuit of his dream of catching the Legendary Pokémon, Mew, Goh has decided that he too would like to catch one of each Pokémon. To his credit, Goh works hard to achieve his dream by catching Pokémon at an impressively high rate.
Some fans are annoyed at how easily he catches most of their Pokemon, only to have them immediately transported to Cerise Labs, but there’s a critical difference between Goh’s and Ash’s Pokemon storage that makes him the top trainer: goh actually take care of something everyone his pokemon.
At the time of writing, Goh has over 100 Pokemon residing in Professor Cerise’s lab. The original catchphrase for the series was “Gotta Catch ‘Em All,” and Goh has embodied that mission statement more than Ash. Unlike in the games, Goh’s excess Pokémon are not converted into data or stored on a computer. The Pokémon in the anime are living creatures that need daily care, which would make it cruel for Goh to catch as many as he does just for the sake of his collection. However, the anime has shown on many occasions that when Goh is not on an errand or adventure with Ash, he spends his days taking care of each and every one of his Pokémon, which Ash has never done.
Every time Ash ends his journey through a region and decides to start over, he leaves his newly caught Pokémon in Professor Oak’s lab (Kukui for his Alolan Pokémon) and never looks back. In Ash’s defense, he can’t exactly take care of his many Pokémon during an adventure, but even when he’s in Pallet Town, he still doesn’t help take care of them. Ash has over 60 of his own Pokémon in Oak’s lab, but even when he drops by to say hello, he still doesn’t lend a hand in his daily care and gives Oak and Tracy Sketchit a break. Ash’s Pokémon go months without seeing his trainer, while Goh’s Pokémon see him almost every day.
Multiple episodes of pokemon trips The anime focuses on a day when Goh cares for his Pokémon at Cerise Labs. He brings pallet after pallet of food, takes the food that each of his Pokémon likes to wherever they prefer to hang out, and checks on their well-being. . He noticed that one of his Flabébé was missing a pedal from its flower and spent some time exercising with his gigantic Magikarp to help the bulky Pokémon stay in shape. Meanwhile, Ash’s Infernape snuck out of Oak’s lab to seek out new Fire-type opponents, something Ash could have avoided had he bothered to check in and check on his Pokémon more often.
While it’s indisputable that Ash is the most skilled trainer when it comes to fighting, Goh is a better trainer in that he truly cares about all of his Pokémon. Responsibility has never been Ash’s strong suit, but Goh makes him seem careless when it comes to breeding Pokémon. Ash’s tunnel vision towards his target led Pikachu to run away from him even briefly when Ash couldn’t be bothered to do anything but train his Riolu. He tends to keep the same five Pokémon and Pikachu with him for extended periods, while Goh regularly changes his Pokémon and brings a random assortment of them on an adventure.
As the Coronation World Series draws to a close in pokemon trips, it’s hard to imagine where Ash Ketchum’s character could go from here, whether he wins or not. the Travels The anime has felt like something of a farewell tour with countless cameos from legacy characters, and several more cameos are on the way. If Goh really is being groomed to replace Ash as PokemonThe main protagonist of , has already made a good impression by always being a caring and responsible Pokémon trainer, while Ash is often caring but generally irresponsible.
